Here's our Top Five Tips to Achieve Balance in 2014:

Number One:

Have regular massage...but you knew we were going to say that! But seriously, regular massage is soooo amazing to reduce stress levels. It helps to reduce cortisol levels, your stress hormone, as well as having that scheduled time-out for yourself does wonders for increasing your productivity levels. Also, how are you going to train and compete if you aren't in balance? Your muscles need to be flushed and freshened before the next assault of training you'll put them through...schedule it in to your training program (rest day is best). Book here now!

Number Two:Top Five Tips for Balance in 201

Eat Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plants... as said by author of "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan which I read over the Christmas break and advocated by our own nutritionist Mikki Williden. Keep it real!! Eat whole foods... meat, fish, eggs, veges, fruits, nuts and seeds. Forget the middle of the supermarket where the processed foods hang out...eating a diet rich in whole foods increases your antioxidant intake (protects you from dis-ease), your fiber intake (improves your gut condition, which is important for your immune system) and lessens your inflammation levels. We all have sore muscles from time to time (that a massage can ease) but when its a chronic problem it could be related to your inflammation levels and what your eating. For more information or an appointment see Mikki 's blog. And here's an awesome lunch idea for work...Salad in a Jar!! love it!

Number Three:

Laugh...till it hurts! Yes that's right, studies have shown that laughter produces endorphins (those feel good brain chemicals). When it's a big belly group laugh it promotes feelings of connectedness and bonding according to Dr Robin Dunbar an evolutionary psychologist from Oxford University. So get together with your friends and go to the comedy club or rent some funny dvd's...it's good for you!

Number Four:

Regular exercise of course! But why not try something new...stand up paddle boarding, go to the driving range and rent a couple of clubs and have a whack, organize a touch game with your friends at the local park, go out dancing! By pushing your comfort zone you feel a sense of achievement and you might even find a new activity you enjoy, and meeting new people can be an added bonus!

Number Five:

Quantity Time & Quality with Family...is once a year enough and is it really quality around the crazy Christmas table when everyone is stressed, tired or drunk? Why not schedule in more time with the kids this year, maybe on a one-on one level as well as the whole family, for more ideas. Make time to go an see your grandparents or extended family if they are still around and get the low down on your family history...interesting stuff!

Enjoy 2014 everybody, we look forward to looking after you this year and beyond!
