Q My head is very itchy and has been like this for a long time now i.e. about a year. Did nit treatment but not that, no obvious sign of psoriasis. Wondering if possible due to earings as hadn't worn any for years and then got some last xmas - from colleague, from chemist, ones they use when pierce ears, but thought perhaps it's a reaction ? I don't know but very sick of haing an itchy head every day and not a lot of relief when scratch it.

A As well as the suggestions below, try washing your hair with nothing but hot water - i.e. without shampoo. Do not use conditioner or any other product on it. Push it into place, and let it dry naturally. If you go to the hairdresser, ask for a dry cut. Keep this up for at least a month, and see if it helps. Wash it every few days. It will take about a week for your hair to adjust to the natural oils, but it will be shiny and manageable, and will not smell.

A Yes good suggestion so far, change shampoo, drink more water. AND exclude coffee, SUGAR , white /refined grains, alcohol.
Also it's likely you don't have enough quality fats. Detoxifying herbs and herbs that esp help scalp and skin problems may also be needed. Click my link, to book your consultation to find the best way to deal with this . Jaine

A I have encountered this problem with a number of my clients and the number one cause is dietary. When your gut is healthy and you have a strong immune system you can tolerate all sorts of crap ingredients on your skin without ill effect. Having said that I would recommend not using Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and parabens on your body if you can avoid it! It's an added stress you can do without.
So, back to the diet. My recommendation would be to look at your cultural heritage and see what your ancestors ate before the tidal wave of white flour and white sugar products flooded our systems. Stick to simple, unprocessed foods and begin the process of healing your digestive tract. There's a heap more information available. Click my link at the bottom of this article and email me if you need to know more.

A I practice homeopathy amongst a number of other practices and I would be very happy to talk to you about relieving that itch. I can't answer if it is due to earrings, but homeopathy will help to help your body not be so reactive to whatever is going on in your body. A I would suggest also that you check your shampoo, and or anything else you put in her hair, including hair spray, etc. I have an itchy head problem myself if there is things in the shampoo that I am allergic to, and I never use any hairspray at all. If that still does not fix it then perhaps you should then see a health practitioner.

A Hi,

I would check your shampoo for a start, it might have some chemical ingredients that your scalp is no longer tolerating. Try a good organic shampoo or at least one that does not contain LSL (Laurel sodium sulphates) go to a health shop and ask for assistance. Have you used hairdyes? any harsh products used a long period of time can become toxic.they are readily absorbed into the system.I would ask if you are drinking enough clear water(up to 2litres a day)I hope that helps if you have more questions connect with me at the website adress below, all the best
