About Maggie Harper
I have a background in the performing arts as an actress, and prior to that as a dancer. I had a lot of back pain while I was a dancer and the discovery of the Feldenkrais Method in 1990 changed this along with reducing my stress enormously.
Already a massage practitioner at the time, I sometimes felt a bit like the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff in helping people with injuries and pain. The Feldenkrais Method enabled me to address the habits and tensions that caused pain in the first place.
The Feldenkrais method is very helpful for back, neck and joint pain,( including OOS and chronic pain ) and postural difficulties. It also is very effective for stress, anxiety, and neurological conditions.
Alongside my performing career I have always been interested in health and wellbeing, particularly the relationship between body and mind, and have practised meditation and yoga for many years.
I have taught individuals and public classes in movement education in different forms for over 20 years, including yoga, working in gyms, and teaching corporate workshops eg.OOS prevention in the workplace.
Clients include business people, nurses, mothers, chefs, therapists, pilots, athletes and performing artists.
It is a joy working with people in a respectful and explorative way and seeing the changes as people reengage with themselves on all levels!

Method
A method of movement re-education that addresses unconsciously held habits / patterns of movement or holding of tension in the body that cause pain, movement difficulties or tension . Through increasing awareness these habits are recognised and new and more varied ways of moving, including breathing, occur. Flexibility, posture, ease of movement and general functioning is improved. The change in physical experience improves clarity of mind, and creates feelings of calm , ease and overall wellbeing.
