Q What is a natural way to control acid reflux?

A Raising the head of your bed a few inches may help. Reflux is sometimes caused by Helicobacter pylori or other pathogens in the gut. You can ask your doctor to test for this. Antibiotics are usually effective at eradicating H. pylori, otherwise oregano oil may work.

A If there is any compression or mobility issues through the upper neck or base of the skull this can interfere with the control of the stomach and other parts of the digestive tract through the vagus nerve. Osteopathy can address these issues through manipulation and mobilisation. I have treated many cases of reflux successfully. If you would like to talk about things feel free to call me 3760174. Ryan

A Hi, a nice easy way to control acid reflux is taking 1/2 to 1 tsp of slippery elm just before your meal. After a while you will find you won't need it anymore (you can buy this in organic section of supermarket or health food shop in bag and its inexpensive). As mentioned by another practitioner getting your probiotic balance and digestive enzymes stimulated is a good idea also. Good Luck - Susan Herald-Smith
