Hi, I have heard of drops which speed up the metabolism when one diets. I know the body holds onto fat when calories are decreased. I excercise and walk fairly regularly, but enjoy my food :)

There is a homeopathic remedy which people are taking at the moment, which are drops that you take with allow the body to utilise the fat which is stored in the body, the programme needs to be monitored by a homeopath, you are on a strict regime of what you are allowed to eat and also ensure that you do not have any fat/oil contact with your body.
When looking at weight issues, it is important to assess metabolism and hormonal function as well as what and how much you are eating and how you are exercising as these factors all have a role to play. Drops which 'speed up metabolism' sound like a stab in the dark, not really focussing on the underlying issues. What I would be looking at is 1. how is your thyroid function? Are you eating the right balance of nutrients for it to be working optimally? 2. What are your stress levels (and cortisol) like? If you have high stress and high cortisol this can affect your ability to gain muscle and burn body fat regardless of what you're eating or not eating, or doing physically. 3. are you eating food that rapidly turns to fat or stimulates fat deposition in your body? 4. Are you doing exercise that focuses on building muscle or are you doing primarily cardio? The reason for discussing these points is that hormones (thyroid, cortisol and insulin) as well as the food you're eating and type of exercise you do (more muscle equals faster metabolism) all have an effect on metabolism. Taking drops that speed up your metabolism without changing the factors that are specifically affecting body fat and metabolism for you would be pointless, however knowing what the underlying causes of your steady weight gain over time are, herbs and supplements as well as an appropriate diet and exercise programme would work like magic.
