WHAT EXACTLY IS PAIN NEURALIZATION TECHNIQUE?
Pain Neutralization Technique was invented by Dr Stephen Kaufman from USA who is a Chiropractor, Physiotherapist and Acupuncturist. He is now using PNT as his primary form of treatment as he finds it helps relieve pain in his clients better than anything he has used before. He is teaching Doctors, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists and other health practitioners all over the world.
When we find trigger points (tender points) within muscles and tendons and turn them off you can feel muscles relax and stop pulling, discomfort seems to disappear and range of movement increases. It is based on neurological reflex theories. You do not need to take any clothing off as oil is not needed. There is no manipulation or deep tissue work and it is not like any other trigger point therapy you may have had in the past. Even with problems that have been diagnosed as something where you have to live with the pain - we are finding that a lot of the pain comes from the soft tissues around the joint and we have been able to reduce or eliminate the pain with Pain Neutralization Technique in alot of cases.
PNT is also referred to as Kaufman Technique - it is well worth giving it a try as it could help your pain..
PNT can be therapeutic for many physical conditions including:
• Neck pain
• Low back pain
• Jaw pain (TMJ)
• Frozen shoulder
• Ileotibial band syndrome
• Post surgical and non pathological abdominal pain
• Cervical and lumbar disc syndrome
• Tennis elbow
Your fist session is 50 minutes long. You will be asked to fill out a form with your health history and recent events that could have affected your health complaint. You will lay (fully clothed) on a treatment couch and the practitioner will palpate for tender areas that could be part of the cause of your symptomatic pain. Another part of the muscle will be used to release the tender points found. This means the treatment is not painful to perform. You usually need a follow up in about a week, which can be 25 minutes or 50 minutes depending on the complaint you have presented. The number of follow up treatments required will depend on the individual and can vary from 1 to 3 or sometimes more.
Pain Neutralization Technique is beneficial to people of all ages due to the holistic nature and philosophy of treating the root cause of symptoms.
