Give Your Baby the Healthiest Start in Life
If I don't know my options, I don't have any.
(Diana Korte)
The benefits of comprehensive preconception and pregnancy care extend far beyond nine months – they last a lifetime. If you are planning to have your baby in the near future, make a conscious decision to do the best for your baby and start preconception fertility acupuncture and pregnancy acupuncture today.
Having a baby is a precious gift and conceiving should be an easy, natural process. Sadly for many couples it is an extremely distressing experience as they struggle to conceive and/or maintain a pregnancy. The causes of infertility are many and varied, and affect both females and males. Sometimes there is a hormonal imbalance in one or both partners; sometimes endometriosis, PCOS and tubal damage determines difficulty in conceiving and sometimes there may be no obvious reason at all.
Difficulty in conceiving can be due to issues such as stress, toxicity, nutritional deficiencies and/or hormonal imbalances and adding to this is our western culture with couples waiting until they are in their mid-to late thirties in age before trying to conceive.
There are many factors needing to be considered with fertility acupuncture in giving your body and your baby to be the best start possible. These involve lifestyle, diet, emotions, physical health and fitness, supplementation, relaxation and stress management to name just a few.
Are You Too Stressed to Conceive?
Emotions have a big impact including the stress involved in relationships with fertility issues. Changes in roles and in finances, the growing costs of medical and or complementary assistance with fertility are added stressors to the couple trying to conceive. Fear, worry and anxiety can be common feelings. These stressors and emotions can be helped with fertility acupuncture. Sometimes it’s difficult to admit openly your concerns, fears, and perhaps ambivalence and yet these are universal feelings. Relationships go through profound changes from each person’s perspective.
Have you ever noticed that it is often when a couple stops trying to conceive, and they start to relax, that they fall pregnant? The impact of stress on infertility cannot be underestimated, both as a cause and as a consequence of not conceiving, in both partners. Stress impacts the reproductive system on all levels. In fact, stress actually inhibits the reproductive system; so if you are stressed, this may affect your ability to have a baby. Acupuncture is one way to help you reduce your stress levels along with acupressure. At Harmonise I can help you to learn how to minimise the effects of stress on you and your body.
Breath integration is a great way to train your mind to reduce stress in your body. If you think of your mind like a muscle then you need to train it on a regular basis to enable it to stop over thinking and switch off. You can do this by breathing. Taking 5 minutes twice a day to sit quietly and focus on some abdominal breathing can train your mind to switch off when you need it too.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and there is many research studies now being done in the relationship of acupuncture with the assistance in aiding fertility. Acupuncture is used to assist in regulating a woman’s menstrual cycle and help balance her hormones to assist in the body’s natural process of becoming pregnant. Symptoms such as pain in a woman’s cycle and pre-menstrual tension have been found to be reduced or disappear. There are now an increasing amount of women who are looking to acupuncture to assist in their IVF courses and studies looking at the increase rate of live birth with the use of acupuncture with IVF.
Pregnancy acupuncture can be useful in helping with reducing many pregnancy related conditions such as nausea and vomiting, muscular and skeletal pain, symphysis pubis pain, optimal positioning of babies in utero, labour preparation, pain relief in labour, anxiety, constipation, carpal tunnel syndrome, heartburn, insomnia, fluid retention, thrush, tiredness and exhaustion, lactation, wound healing and postnatal depression to name some.

- As conception progresses to implantation, and an embryo eventually becomes the fetus that ultimately will be the highly anticipated bundle of joy, numerous changes take place within the woman's body to enable this miraculous process to occur. While a woman's physical changes may be obvious, several other ones may be subtle, including a growing sense of immense emotional attachment and reprioritization. The vast majority of these changes are attributable to the hormones of pregnancy.”
Acupuncture can assist women and men with the balance they need in all these factors to help achieve the results women and couples are looking for. Acupuncture can work well alongside medical intervention also.
