SPIRONICS is concerned with the spiral movement and organisation of the human body.
Raymond Dart, world renowned anthropologist and anatomist, stated that the body has two mirror-image spiral tendencies, expressed in its musculature and movement, and that one of the spiral tendencies is always dominant. Furthermore, he noted that all things move spirally and that all growth is spherical.
Spiral movement is a unifying and fundamental property of the human body.
Through my own bodywork, I came separately to this same understanding. The basis of my work is that the dominant spiral can become exaggerated for many reasons, including habitual postural misuse, stress of all kinds, and trauma. The body literally winds up. The effects tend to first be expressed in the form of joint pains and dysfunction, and muscle pain.
The exaggerated spiral tendency manifests as a whole-body pattern of muscle imbalance where all the weak muscles of the body are inhibited by all the over-tight muscles. The fascia itself is compromised. Because all the systems and functions of the body are related to its structure, many apparently unrelated symptoms may arise.
Over-tight (hypertonic) muscles exaggerate the spiral and cause weakness in their antagonist muscles.
SPIRONICS (from Spiral and Hypertonic) releases the hypertonic muscles through a series of graduated stretches, which allows the weakened muscles to regain normal function, and thus inhibits the tendency for the former hypertonic muscles to retighten.
The basic SPIRONICS balance is a unique and powerful modality in its own right, but it can also be used to potentise any other form of bodywork. To do the course, you need to have a familiarty with basic skeletal and muscular anatomy and function.
The basic course (over one weekend) teaches how to identify the exaggerated spiral and to rebalance the body. Kinesiological and individual muscle testing is taught, and the most recent understandings of posture are considered.
The second course shows advanced means of balancing, incorporating the Alarm points of the acupuncture system, and reactive muscle balancing. Non-forceful means of joint correction are taught.
Ross Keen, the founder and teacher of this course, is a Structural Kinesiologist, and has learned many other forms of body-work. The next basic course will be September 18, 19th. Cost is $395. $350 .for early bird non-refundable deposit of $50. Enquire to Ross at 021 260 3016, or email to [email protected] |
