Q I hurt my back years ago and it flares up every now and then. I have put on 17 kilos over the past 6 months. I have always been active but now with my back I have the problem that because I've put on so much weight that walking hurts. Any advise would be grateful. Kind Regards, Sharon.

A Hi Sharon, I have recently joined The Wellness Directory, Ortho-Bionomy is a safe therapy for help during your healing process, it works with gentle movements in order to find the most comfortable position to allow rest to your system, then with light compression if any, this allows your own system to release the holding patterns. During the sessions we search to unravel the underlying reason of the pain. Hope this is of help. Regards Vicki atlashealth.co.nz

A Hi Sharon,

Putting on weight is a common result of back injuries and I have worked with clients in the past who have needed to overcome post-injury stress to their bodies. As an holistic fitness coach, I would need to assess your posture and suggest a MRI scan of your spine to ascertain whether or not there is any structural damage.

From here, I would strongly recommend that you consider building up your core (inner abs unit) and overall body strength with a fitness professional whilst isolating specific weaker areas to readdress any body imbalances which may be leading to your current discomfort.

Let me know if Principal Wellbeing can be of any further assistance to your situation.
