Fibromyalgia (FM) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) are very similar. Many people who have FM also have CFS, and often people who have one of these conditions are mistakenly diagnosed with the other. The main difference between the two is that with FM, the most prevalent symptom is the widespread pain, whereas with CFS, the most prevalent symptom is extreme fatigue which does not improve with rest. Symptoms of these conditions include pain in muscles, ligaments and tendons throughout the body without detectable inflammation, extreme exhaustion and fatigue, mental/emotional disturbances, abdominal pain, migraine and tension headaches, and irritable bladder, jaw pain, non cardiac chest pain, acid reflux, irregular heart beat or palpitations, shortness of breath, chemical sensitivities, depression, anxiety, and the list goes on.
Research has shown that underlying emotional issues can have a significant effect on the body, and can contribute largely to physical ailments and diseases. Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue are often precipitated by an infection or a traumatic experience. By getting to the source of your condition, you can overcome it and live a normal life. An effective way to do this is through a therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). EFT is a gentle yet powerful therapy which is a mixture of mind-body medicine and acupuncture (without needles), and is rapidly increasing in its popularity due to high success rate and rapid results experienced by users. Noeline Ryan is a qualified EFT Practitioner, and has been practising for ten years. She has had clients with this condition, and has had a lot of success in helping them manage the pain and ultimately lead a normal life again. This is done by firstly helping to lower your pain levels, while then working on the underlying emotional causes of your condition, and ultimately relieving you completely of your FM or CFS.

Testimonial - From Fiona
I was sleeping 16-19 hours per day, in constant pain which ranged from excruciatingly sharp to a constant dull throbbing. My condition was so debilitating that I was unable to work. Cooking meals was an ordeal, getting dressed caused pain. Just the every day routine tasks that most people take for granted, felt to me as easy as climbing a mountain. At that time I knew I was suffering from Fibromyalgia and attended chiropractic sessions to realign my spine, and massage sessions to try to reduce the muscle atrophy. I took anti-oxidants and immune system boosters. I began making slow progress, but I still had a heaviness (like the weight of the world on my shoulders), and the chiropractor suggested I try some form of cognitive therapy. I didn’t want to believe that my problems manifested from emotional baggage and that I needed therapy so I put it off; and of course my pain continued. Then like the universe giving me a little push, I saw an online advert for Personal Empowerment; I set up a meeting with Noeline and haven’t looked back since.
I didn’t know what to expect but at the first session Noeline set my mind at ease with her friendly, professional and of course, confidential approach. We worked through aspects of my life that I hadn’t even realised I’d been carrying in my body (emotional and physical abuse, death of a sibling, end of relationships, betrayal by friends, my friends’ problems, putting others’ needs first, guilt, grief, anger, frustration) – you name it, it was there! Together, Noeline and I tapped away the intensity of the memory, until I could reflect on each incidence without a rush of emotion, without shooting pains coursing through my body. We even tapped on the pain itself, concentrating on various areas of the body where I felt it most, and not moving on until the pain dissipated. With once weekly sessions for several months, Noeline and I worked through a lot and thanks to her, I now have this new daily tool to de-stress, lower emotional pain, look at issues objectively and to reduce my pain and discomfort. Nowadays, I’m up every morning, I go to the gym, I have a social life and have even been on holiday; and I’ve just started a university degree! I can honestly say, that today, I actually feel like a different person and I feel alive again. A friend said to me recently that I’m more like my old self again, but I realised I’m not - I’m a new person, my worries have been tapped away and I’m ready to start anew, thanks to Noeline and Personal Empowerment.
