This is a story I have been hearing from many of my clients who are in or beyond their 40’s and sadly I have to say I can right there with them.  We have the sudden realization that we have gained several kgs over time and can’t seem to get them off again.  It only seems to insidiously creep on one kg at a time, but does not seem to slip off that way.  Mind you this is not just a problem for the middle aged, but can also happen after a period of stress, post childbirth or as a results of some other endocrine disorder.  And it’s a problem not only because everyone wants to look and feel good about themselves, but also because most of the weight seems to go round the middle, which is not good for our health. There is the fat we can see, but also that which is stored in the middle round our organs like liver and heart that can do damage.

However all is not lost.  Having participated in a course to learn new Shake it program from Metagenics one of our practitioner only suppliers, I was impressed and thought it may be the solution to my weight loss problems.  It is a high protein, low carbohydrate diet that aims to put you in the fat burning zone.  It is ideal for lowering cholesterol and stabilizing blood sugar imbalances.  There is no starvation required, just an adjustment to eating habits.  So in the spirit of “practising what you preach” I have now made myself and husband the guinea pigs and we are now happily on the second week of this program.  So far total weight loss in one and a half weeks is 3 kgs for me and 3.5 for him.  I lost an inch off all areas after the first week and he lost one inch off his waist and chest
