Apart from the odd rave about Auckland chiropractor Neil Bossenger,  I am not usually given to inflicting my health concerns onto the general populace.  However, this time I’m making an exception, because someone might find my experience helpful.  Up until a few weeks ago, I was becoming increasing crippled with an arthritic hip.  Literally, I was shuffling along, and almost at the stage of walking with a stick.  I’d forgotten what it was like to have a day without pain.  Blood tests and x-rays came back clear, but I was still in increasing pain.  Self-hypnosis and Reiki were helping, but not enough.

Then several serendipitous events occurred in quick succession.  I re-read John Kehoe’s book, “Mind Power.”   Among other things, he talks at length about positive affirmations.  Feeling a bit silly, but having nothing to lose, I began following his advice, and for two minutes every morning, and two minutes every night I kept repeating, “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better.”  Amazingly, after only a couple of days, I did notice an improvement.  People said, “It’s just mind over matter!”  But I didn’t care!  My mind told me that my pain was reduced, and so it didn’t matter!  I kept on with the affirmation even when the pain came back with a vengeance at times.

The second thing that happened was that I visited my great niece, and she gave me a book called “Natural Remedies,” which inspired me to haul out my other books (quite a few of them!) on the subject.  In one of them I read up all the suggested remedies for arthritis.  Two of them sounded particularly promising.  So for the past week I’ve been taking one capsule of Olive leaf extract, two capsules of fish oil and two capsules of Evening Primrose oil, once a day.  In addition I’ve been drinking, three or four times a day, two teaspoons each of cider vinegar, lemon juice and honey and one teaspoon (more or less) of crushed ginger (the kind you buy in a jar at the supermarket), all dissolved a mug of hot water.  It’s actually a very pleasant drink.

Cut to the chase.  For the past four or five days, I have had a slight twinge in my hip when I move awkwardly, but otherwise have been virtually pain free.  I can walk with a straight back again, I can turn over in bed without pain, and best of all, I can tie my own shoe laces!

I am a hypnotherapist and Reiki practitioner, and not qualified to advise on naturopathy.  I am not promising that this will work for you.  My hope is that you will find it helpful, but I can only tell you that it is working for me, and for that I’m enormously grateful.
