Ayurvedic Massage TakapunaThis hand is blissful,
Because it contains all healing virtues.
This hand’s mere touch cures all diseases.

-Rig Veda (>1500 bce)

Caring touch is one of the most basic and profound forms of healing. It reaches into, and fills, all the levels of a person – physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual. Could this be because, as a baby is born, it is held and comforted against its mother’s breast - its first healing experience?

Ayurvedic massage has been performed for thousands of years, as standard therapeutic practice. Not only have traditional families exchange massages regularly as part of mutual care, but Ayurvedic physicians have prescribed massage for all manner of ills.

Ayurvedic massage uses a large variety of oils, many of which are traditional herbal formulas. Thus, a trained Ayurvedic therapist will assess a client and his/her health state; and use oils which transport the right herbs into the body through massage. For example, for someone who suffers from anxiety, an oil formula containing the nervine herb Ashwagandha is used. Thus the client is soothed not only by the massage, but also by the herbs being absorbed.

The ancient system of Ayurveda understands different body types and health conditions, according to which of the Five Elements are predominant. Some people need soothing and grounding; some people need stimulating and heating. The style of massage - and of course the choice of oil - is adjusted to all these variables.

Ayurveda also understands that we are not only physical bodies, but energetic, mental and spiritual bodies as well. Thus, a good Ayurvedic therapist will provide a holistic massage that addresses the whole person. When correctly done, the client will feel a deep sense of satisfaction and healing. We find that regular Ayurvedic massage helps clients discover added dimensions of themselves - that it is a gentle and nourishing accessory to their journey of self-discovery.

Ayurvedic massage can assist in the following:

  • Severe stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia and other mental health issues
  • Chronic pains of all kinds, including muscle and myofascial pains, joint pains and nerve pains
  • Serious health conditions including hypertension, heart disease and cancer
  • Complex conditions that are difficult to diagnose and treat

Holistic massage induces relaxation levels that trigger the body’s healing response, enhancing other forms of treatment, whether natural or medical. A course of several massages is recommended to obtain the full therapeutic benefits.

If you are in good health regular Ayurvedic massage can be a tremendous investment in optimum health, wellbeing and beauty. Regular clients report improved self-esteem, self-confidence and coping ability. They sleep better, have less pains, and improved muscle tone. They also report better general health, improved circulation and excellent skin complexion.

For women, this means authentic beauty from within! We have often observed that a woman’s innate beauty blossoms even after one massage session.

Here is what our clients have said:

“Much more than any other massage… a deeply relaxing experience.”

“The best massage I have ever had! And my skin is beautiful!”

“Absolutely gorgeous! Felt like warm velvet!”

“Gave me a feeling of safety and warmth. Very relaxing and healing…”
