Many people are unaware or don’t fully realise how incredible their body is. It all starts when two cells become four, which become 16 and carry on in this manner to eventually become YOU! How this happens is beyond explaining, but there are a few key things to point out when it comes to helping you discover more optimal health and wellbeing as well as faster, more efficent recovery after injury!Here are a few key points:

1.    Nothing happens by accident. You current and future health is not fully reliant on a blueprint of genetics that supposedly carry on without any deviation. No, no, no! Along with your genes, you body has the incredible capacity to adapt and mould to the environment! For example, even though the so-called ‘fat gene’ (scientifically known as FTO) has been discovered, it is only expressed by an environment that allows an unhealthy weight – generally eating saturated fatty food and not moving much! However studies[i] have proven that a healthy weight and life can be maintained through good management of one’s environment, especially the eating and exercising one!

2.    You body ‘reads’ and adapts to its environment through input via your nervous system. Via touch, taste, smell, sight, sounds and movement, your brain picks up vital information about its environment and forms new brain connections to better handle the information and improve itself. Therefore if there is poor input via the nervous system, like a poor phone connection, the ability of the body to adapt, improve and in some cases protect itself can be significantly hindered. Output from the brain is so much affected by input, that to look after our health and increase our body’s ability to recover from injury, we need to make sure there are very clear lines of communication between our brain and our body – via nervous system!

3.    When the neurological pathways in our body are working well, the body works as it was meant to. Sometimes our spine which protects our nerves can get out of alignment, chocking our nervous system, leaving our body and health compromised. At this point, because of a lack of proper input to our brain, injury is more likely as our adaptive abilities are slowed.

4.    The good news is that good input can be restored and enhanced through proper movement, good nutrition and by a chiropractor, who is trained to look after the nervous system through correcting interferences in the spine. By gently allowing the nerves to flow freely through a properly functioning spinal system, your body’s ability to restore and regenerate as well as improve and maintain itself can be enhanced.

Recovering from injury can be a very discouraging time for many, but it is great to know that your own body is on the team working to restore health and wellbeing to itself, and improving your own potential for fantastic health!
