Q my 6 year old grandson is having bouts of what he describes as like electric shocks over his back...its clearly painful and he often writhes on the ground rubbing his back to get rid of the feeling

A Hi, it does sound like a trapped nerve, but with any child it is always good to refer to his GP, he is growing and it is always safe to get something like this checked out.

A Hi there. The recommendations below are sensible - however, if your grandson has not had any investigations, then I recommend that he has an x-ray to check that there is nothing more sinister. All the best, Sharon

A Hi, I agree sounds like a nerve getting pinched. Seeing as kids are so active and get knocked around my preferred approach would be something that specialises in impact injury - ie www.contactcare.co.nz I find that kids respond quickly and positively to it - especially as they dont need to lie still for half an hour - a decent CC practitioner will be able to work effectively wherever he is most comfortable

good luck and cheers

A It could be that he is getting a trapped nerve, might be good to take him to a cranio-sacral therapist who might be able to do very subtle adjustments which could help.
Also try massaging his back and getting him to stretch.
