What can help erratic periods, i.e. 2 in one month, or else 3 weeks overdue etc. At times they are heavier than normal too. I am 47.

HI there, menopause is often a time when the hormonal pattern changes causing periods to start and stop, ebb and flow. Homeopaths understand that this is not a fixed pattern and can be brought back to normal with a well- indicated homeopathic medicine. Find a homeopath in your area through this website or NZCH www.homeopathy.co.nz
All the best

It would be interesting to know when you began having erratic periods and what was happening in your life at that time. Things do not happen for no reason.... It would be good to look at the original cause of your issue with your periods being erratic. This said, being 47 it can be the beginning of the pre-menopausal stage.
• You could ask your General Practitioner to prescribe a blood test, in view of looking at your Progesterone , Oestrogen, Testosterone level. Thus giving a fairer idea of what is going on with your hormonal level. However if you are at the beginning of the Pre Menopausal Stage, Blood test may not show anything.
• One needs to keep in mind that it could be due to an ovarian cyst or a Fibroid...
• On the other hand, Nutripuncture is a very good Therapy that allows your body to balance itself up, thus reducing and removing any symptoms. I do practice Nutripuncture. Should you be interested please contact me 021 502 095 and make an appointment.

Hello. If you go to http://sheenahendonhealth.co.nz/Assess-Your-Health/ and fill out the women's health questionnaire, then we may have more information to go on regarding the causes of your erratic menstrual cycle. If you do this and contact me we can have a chat on the phone re the results and look at the next steps. best wishes Sheena Hendon

Clients have experienced good results with Chocolate Lily flower essence.

The Change?...Maybe.... It is difficult (and inappropriate) to conclude that you are menopausal based on this information. A simple blood test can indicate if you are actually menopausal or not.
If a test does not support the theory of menopause then (depending on your whole health picture), further investigation and/or balancing of your hormonal production systems is in order. It is important to ascertain if the changes you are experiencing are, actually due to menopause, as some of the symptoms could be due to other causes. For some women managing menopause is a challenge and if your erratic periods are due to this then a nutritional and lifestyle review is in order. Either way, my best advice is to get support from a suitably qualified practitioner who can help you identify the cause of the issue, and work with that. All the best.

Hi there, to balance your cycle, i recommend Bowen therapy. I have had many women with menstrual and menopausal problems responding extremely well to this modality. it seems that you are in the stage of peri-menopause. Erratic periods are symptomatic for the hormonal changes happening in this phase. for your local Bowen therapist, i suggest you look at the website for a practitioner. www.bowtech.org.nz All the very best! kind regards Inga

As per the excellent answer from Leila at 47 this is not unusual, however if the onset has been rapid what may be contributing is stress. If you are undergoing abnormal stress Psoas a deep core muscle of your body may be tight. When Psoas gets tight it places pressure on your Adrenal glans, triggering the fight / flight reflex as psoas pulls on the tissue surrounding the adrenal glans which are also responsible for up to 40% of your Estrone production so can impact your cycle quite significantly. An experienced deep tissue therapist may be able to help. More information is available on our website. www.wellnessatwork.co.nz or 096389995 Cheers Chris Toal

Erratic periods are not an unusual phenomenon at the age of 47. This might very well be an expression of peri-menopause. Homeopathy is an excellent way of addressing all symptoms that can accompany such a time in a woman's life. It is a holistic and comprehensive approach addressing all the unpleasant symptoms you describe. By taking a thorough case history one can ascertain all aspects that might need addressing so as to faciliate a smooth transition from peri menopause to menopause. It would also be important to collaborate with a thorough routine check up from a gynaecologist to make sure everything is normal. From a homeopath's point of view it is difficult to list exactly that which would relieve you of your symptoms as the prescription is very much individualised and based on your very specific expression of symptoms. We use homeopathic remedies but specific homeobotanicals as well as herbal teas can be used in conjunction to support such a prescription.
