WHAT EXACTLY IS NLP?
NLP over a number of years has developed tools for communication, which have been valuable and influential. These tools can be applied to nearly any area in a person's life including counseling, parenting, sport, health, coaching, sales, personal growth and business. In addition, NLP has been highly successful in supporting individuals to overcome their phobias, as well as enabling clients to realise and eradicate other self-imposed mind blocks.

NLP can be experienced on a one-to-one or group basis and be carried out in a calm, relaxed and peaceful environment. The initial NLP consultation may take between 45 to 60 minutes. The session starts by talking about the current issues or limitations you wish to address. During the discussion, the NLP therapist will review your current beliefs, subjective experiences and behavioral patterns. After confiding with your practitioner the rest of the time is focused on helping you make the necessary shifts to improve your situation. These changes may be emotional, motivational, breaking habitual patterns, achieving goals or overcoming a traumatic experience. Upon realizing your own patterns and having the tools and skills available to remove these self inflicted habits, such as phobias, an individual can attain empowerment within their life and become more highly aware of their own being. Furthermore this enables you to create new and more beneficial beliefs, behaviors and solutions.
NLP has established a highly regarded reputation for it’s effective and fast solutions to problems, as compared with other more conventional approaches. This can be evident when treating an individual for a phobia, as these types of issues can be remedied in up to two sessions. However issues surrounding self-esteem and confidence can take anywhere between four to six sessions as the strategies for dealing with these issues can be more wide ranging.
It has proved successful in helping with a number of conditions and is often used alongside other complementary therapies such as Hypnotherapy, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Life Coaching.
Research has shown NLP to be a safe therapy when applied by a trained or qualified NLP practitioner and can be an effective treatment for people of all ages. It is wise to carry out some research and select a naturopath who is either a member of, or accredited by, an association or professional body such as The New Zealand Association of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NZANLP). NLP practitioners are obligated to a code of ethics and procedure that determines the therapy is carried out in a suitable and safe environment. These regulations also guarantee a specialist who has undergone certifiable training and receives professional upskilling.
