WHAT EXACTLY IS ORTHO-BIONOMY?
Ortho-Bionomy
is a gentle, non-invasive system of healing which is helpful in
addressing many pain and stress conditions. Developed by Dr Arthur
Lincoln Pauls, a British osteopath, Ortho-Bionomy supports the
self-correcting capacity of the person through the use of gentle
movement and positioning of the body as well as light compression into
the joints. Ortho-Bionomy stimulates long-lasting changes by
re-educating the client’s body so that it can effectively maintain
balance and optimal functioning on its own.
Whilst
Ortho-Bionomy is effective as a stand-alone modality it is highly
complementary to any other treatments that the client may be receiving
such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic and physiotherapy as well as
other medical treatment. This work does not interfere with any other
modalities or treatment protocols.
IS ORTHO-BIONOMY THE RIGHT THERAPY FOR YOU?
Ortho-Bionomy may benefit the following physical and mental conditions:

Your initial consultation may last between 45 to 60 minutes. Follow up sessions are shorter and are generally 30 to 45 minutes in duration. During a treatment session, the client lies on a massage table, preferably wearing loose and comfortable clothing, while the practitioner gently positions the body to create ease and comfort around areas that are painful, tight or restricted. While gently using very light compression or traction to assist the nervous system this will stimulate the self-corrective reflexes that are present in the body thereby enabling the release of the pain and tension patterns that are present and causing problems.
It
is wise to carry out some research and select a therapist who is either
a member of, or accredited by, an association or professional body such
as The Association of NZ Ortho-Bionomists Inc.
This ensures that they meet the competencies required to practice
physiotherapy and the therapy is carried out in a suitable and safe
environment. These regulations also guarantee a specialist who has undergone certifiable training and receives professional upskilling.
