Just above my forehead I am starting to lose my hair. I am 57 and have fine hair. I had thyroid test done and all good. I have had 2 knee replacements Jan 2014 and Nov 2014 and both successful. My GP has suggested I see a Dermotoligist. Do you have any idea what could be causing it. I am not stressed out.

Only a thorough questioning diagnosis will tell why your losing hair. There are many factors and generally not one will be the cause. Hormonal, stress of some sort(unless you live in a cave),hereditary, lacking in vitamins or mineral salts, weakness in the kidneys (TCM) diagnosis, hair follicles need more stimulus.

Hi. There are several things that can contribute to hair loss - low thyroid function being one of them. Even though you have been told your thyroid results are normal, they can often be at the upper or lower end of normal and you can still experience symptoms. Low iron and poor nutrient absorption can also contribute as can stress amongst others. If you would like to look into things further please feel free to contact me.
Thanks

Hi there. Assuming that you are female, this can be someone to stressing - as opposed to expected. There are a number of reasons for thi, including excessive stress, digestive problems, circulatory insufficiency, toxic overload asands well as thyroid issues. While you have indicated (or been told) that your thyroid function is normal it's important to be aware that medical parameters are set to identify disease rather than borderline dysfunction. Hence I'd be interested to see those test results. I'd also be happy to discuss these things further - please contact us if a holistic approach to identifying the underlying cause ofyour problem is of interest to you.
kind regards
Sharon

My hairdresser recently told me it is quite normal for the hairline to recede in both men and women around that age. But worth checking.

Hi there, there are many other reasons for hairloss like iron deficiency or hormonal imbalance. I would suggest you see a naturopath to start a process of elimination.
