Is there a simple step by step approach to changing eating habits - in particular being addicted to carbs, cheese, chocolate, etc - to healthy life long habits.

Many, many people face your problem - knowing what you SHOULD do, and yet somehow being unable to do it with any kind of consistency. It's an incredibly hard road to hoe without help, but one that responds extremely well to hypnotherapy intervention. Hypnotherapy can help you to re-programme your unconscious mind, and so supports your desire to change your eating habits. I'd be happy to discuss this with you further if you'd like a more in-depth discussion. Go to my website www.essendinenaturaltherapies.com for contact details. Meanwhile, take some comfort from the fact that you're not alone, and that it's a problem that is fixable. Norma

Everything's do-able in steps. In your case I'd want to ascertain the underlying reason for the addiction - sometimes there is a problem that, left unaddressed, would make it hard to keep to your resolve. If your blood sugars are unstable as a result of poor eating habits then you may need nutritional therapy to help rebalance this.
A long history of excessive intake of refined carbs can lead to a depletion in specific nutrients that help curb carb cravings!
Sounds as if you are willing to change, which is the most important first step.
I wish you all the best.

Try making one small change per week/fortnight, depending on how fast you want to implement your changes. For example, if you're wanting to reduce carbs, what's the one item of carbohydrate you could most easily do without? What could you substitute it with that's beneficial? Step one is to make this change. When you are satisfied you can stick with it move on to change 2. If your changes are fortnightly and you stay with the program, you will have made 26 deletions and substitutions in a year. That's pretty significant! PS, there's nothing wrong with cheese and chocolate in moderation. Maybe step 1 could be changing your chocolate intake from sweet milk choc to 70% cocoa solids.

You need to start eating vegetables and non processed foods. Instead of sugar you can start eating sweet vegetables - like pumpkin or sweet potato, change white rice for brown rice. Crowding out - unhealthy foods for healthy ones. Karina
