Q Put this under acne, because although I would like some advice on best treatments for adult acne (currently using pro-active and it's not really working) I'm after info on a skin condition and I can't see the category for it. I've had (for years) permanent bruising (or what looks like bruising marks but no pain) on my upper abdomen. Any ideas what this could be? And do I need to see someone about it.

A Hi, I had my personal experience with severe adult acne before.
It's all about food and diet. You need to stop sugar and flour or wheat completely. Pro active used to make me cry for weeks since it damaged my face. Once I fixed my diet, whatever cream I use never trigger my acne. It's all about diet and inside your body. Go to anyone who can test your hair if you have candida infection (like me) or not. If yes, then no sugar 100%.

I am not sure about your bruise on your abdomen. I think you need to week advise from the doctor.

A Hi there. I have had a couple of clients in recent years with interesting episodes of unexplained bruising, such as you describe. In both cases we were able to identify either a dietary deficiency or an issue with digestive absorption, that was preventing some important nutrients from being properly absorbed.
However, as you state that yours is "permanent" then I assume that the pattern or colour has not changed for many years - if this is correct, then there is probably not much point in trying to identify what caused it but you might benefit from a tailor-made topical cream that may help reduce the colour over time. I am a nurse, naturopath, herbalist and aromatherapist and would be willing to make something up for you - I would need to see the lesions first though.

Hope this helps.
kind regards
Sharon

A I can't speculate on what the marks on your abdomen might be without seeing them but I think you should see someone about them - I suggest a medical doctor.
For acne and most skin conditions, one of the first things to look at is whether you are getting enough zinc in your diet - the best sources are oysters, red meat and pumpkin seeds.
If that doesn't sort it, I would recommend seeing a naturopath. Hormonal imbalances can often cause acne and a naturopath can take a full case history and possibly run some tests to determine likely imbalances and can prescribe herbs and diet to address this.
