Q I have suffered migraines for the past 10 years and recently they get worse when ever i have dairy. could that be the cause

A Migraines can be offset by many factors some being imbalances within the body. As a pranic healer we look at all areas including diet and lifestyle. You may be interested in pursuing one of my courses where I teach how you can identify foods that are compatible with your body which is extremely helpful in many situations. 10 years is too long to suffer. I do skype healings so it does not matter where you live if you wish to pursue a healing sometime. All the best. Faye

A Hi Jocelyne,
It is well known that food intolerance can be involved in migraine, but there are a lot of other factors that can have an effect.Do you experience neck pain or stiffness? In my 35 years of practice as a chiropractor there have only two migraine suffers I have been unable to help. Find an experienced chiropractor in your area an get an assessment to see if chiropractic care could solve your problem.

A Hi Jocelyne
I have had a few consultations with people suffering from migraine headaches and each I have prescribed different Homeopathic remedies. The reason for this is that we prescribe for the individual, NOT for the disease label. There are vast numbers of reasons for this happening to you and just as many 'triggers'. As this is a chronic situation (lasting 10 years) I would highly recommend you going into it from a Homeopathic point of view and don't pluck 'reason' and 'solutions' out of the air. If you are in Auckland I would be happy to consult with you, or if you are anywhere else in the country I would be happy to find a good Homeopath for you to consult with. Glad to be of assistance, Mary.

A Sounds like you have found your own answer. I concur with all the other therapist that replied to your question. Dairy products can cause all sorts of symptoms.
Kindly yours

A It is wonderful that your body is telling you what not to eat. How amazing are our bodies? And how often do we ignore our bodies? I always listen to my body now as it will tell me almost immediately when I have eaten a food that does not support my body.

You might also like to look at what it is you are getting frustrated about.

A Yes, it could be the cause. There could also be other foods and food additives involved. One of the best ways to find out is with a hair analysis. I prefer to see people personally, but for those not in my area it can be managed by post and email.

A Hi there.
Dairy products are very commonly associated with allergies.
Simply go completely dairy-free for about 3 weeks, which means no cheese, milk, yoghurt, cream, butter or whey protein - you'll need to check labels for this.

As dairy products contain a number of different provoking substances, and not every dairy product contains them all, a careful reintroduction of the different groups one-by-one, under the guidance of a nutritionist or naturopath will aid in identifying the problematic ingredient/s.

If your headaches improve, but don't resolve completely in the 3 weeks, there might be other contributors and other common problem foods would need to be considered in addition to dairy products.
Again, professional guidance is recommended.

Kind regards, Sharon

A If you have a food allergy, it is very possible that they contribute to your migranes. It may also be neck tension that signals off pain receptors in your body (muscle tension that can effect different parts of the body than the actual problematic area are referred to as trigger points).
It would be worth your while visiting a naturopath to get a full consultation. This will empower you to know what is triggering these reactions in your body, and how to go about making lifestyle changes that will hopefully ease off the pain. Also, you can look up www.massagenewzealand.org.nz which has a database of qualified massage therapists. It would be beneficial for you to get a therapist that practices remedial or therapeutic massage. When you go to them and complete their forms, they will do various tests with your range of movement. From this they will be able to ascertain if your neck tension is contributing to the migranes (depending on what muscles are sore and when they refer to).
Hope this helps.
