Q My daughter suffers badly from IBS. Can you suggest any alternative therapies that may help her please? We live in Christchurch.

A It is wonderful that your daughter's body is showing her that there is some disharmony in her body, as a result of choices. You could certainly consider eliminating all GLUTEN form her diet (gluten -from the German word for 'glue' sticks to the small hairs in the intestines, which stops you absorbing nutrients from food). I used to suffer from IBS but since giving up all gluten (including oats) I have not had it since. be patient though -it can take up to three months for gluten to be eliminated from the body.

A I suggest you eliminate dairy, cereals, citrus, potatoes, tea, coffee, caffeine, stress, sugars, refined foods, alcohol, additives, preserves, onions, wheat, chocolate, nuts, oats, corn, fructose, all grains. Take clay daily as parasite worms need to be eliminated from the system and clay is a great cleanser. Pranic healing has a protocol for this and treatment is available, I do skype sessions from home if you wish to pursue this at all, more details of pranic and the clay are on my website. www.rainbowmountaintherapies.co.nz. All the best.

A IBS = Irritable Bowel Syndrome. A syndrome is a set of symptoms that cannot be attributed to a single cause by the medical profession. There is no short response but I'll add to the conversation here.
There is strong evidence that a diet too high in carbohydrates is implicated. That, coupled with the ravages of certain modern pharmaceuticals, contributes to the demise of beneficial gut bacteria and the proliferation of the bad guys.
You can help start the process of healing in your daughter by eliminating all grains and sources of sugar that are not attached to a plant. Keep the foods real - I recommend a Paleo-type diet initially. Also look up FODMAPS on Google and eliminate those foods in the short term. Yes, it will be difficult. Any food addictions your daughter has can be relieved by EFT.
Seek help (I'm on Skype if you want to talk to me) if you have further questions.

A IBS is one of the core conditions Reverse Therapy has success with. It is a common symptom of glandular disorders caused by a dysfunctional hyhpothalamus. Reverse Therapy considers the influence of emotions on health; balancing the emotional mind with the thinking mind to bring back a natural state of health. I would be interested in the age of your daughter, although I am trained and certified to work with children. I frequently work via skype and/or phone and have helped many people in New Zealand – and overseas – in this way.
I suggest you go to my Wellness Directory page, ‘Reverse Therapy NZ’, view the video and check out our UK website as well (www.reverse-therapy.com). Please feel free to call or email me to discuss (no obligation).

A Learning how to breathe diaphragmatically can really help. Look up a physio who teaches breathing techniques. Also, explore the story around when the symptoms began as may be connected to emotions and experiences

A I would suggest a food intolerance test by hair analysis, as most IBS conditions are due to one or more food items which the body cannot handle.
A Christchurch practitioner, Jill Wilby, can take the sample. She will then send it to me for analysis. I send the results back to her and she will see you to discuss the findings.
Her contact details are [email protected], phone: 03 337 2000

A HI
Hypnotherapy is one of the most successful methods, giving 80% success rate for abdominal pain and distension. With patients who have severe chronic IBS, it was hypnotherapy that showed dramatic improvement in all measures and they maintained that improvement in a two year follow up. As there is a connection between stress response and IBS, hypnotherapy has been very successful. I suggest you call Kate Jones Hypnotherapist on 03 3521587 and she will help you.

A Hello. More and more evidence is pointing to the relationship between IBS and gut flora imbalances and/or various types of sugar intolerances. To determine the likelihood that these are a factor, we recommend Hydrogen-Methane Breath tests. We use Quintron analysis machines for this. The kits can be ordered online and samples can be collected in your own home and send back to us for analysis. We offer Skype interviews to discuss the health history and results of tests. If this is something you've not explored, please contact us directly to discuss further. You can find more information on our website: www.breathtests.co.nz
